Waterford Notes: Keith Rocco Keeps Up Late Model Domination

WATERFORD – During the pre-race ceremonies at the Waterford Speedbowl, track owner Terry Eames honored Keith Rocco on the frontstretch for winning his 100th career feature at the track on Aug. 23.

It was only minutes later that Rocco was celebrating extending that number to 101.

Rocco, of Wallingford, cruised easily to victory in the 30-lap Late Model feature Saturday at Waterford.

It was the 11th Late Model victory of the season for Rocco and his 22nd victory overall at the track this season.

The 101st victory tied Don Collins for second on the track’s all-time win list. Phil Rondeau’s 106 victories leads the all-time winners list in the 64-year history of the shoreline oval.

Vin Esposito of Waterbury was second and Anthony Ryan Jr. of Danbury third.

Rocco went to the lead past Esposito with 24 laps remaining and was untouchable the rest of the way.

Ryan Waterman of Danielson won for the third time this season in the 25-lap Street Stock feature.

Monte Gibbs of Haddam was second and Jason Chicolas of Sutton, Mass. third.

Paul Buzel of Trumbull won for the first time in his career in the 25-lap SK Light Modified feature. Randy Churchill Jr. of Oakdlale was second and Larry Goss of North Windham third.

Ray Christian III of Groton won the 25-lap Mini Stock feaure. Garrett Denton of Hope Valley, R.I. was second and Doug Curry of Groton third.

  2. Rocco has 0 competition at the bowl.at Stafford he is just another mid pack car.the drivers and cars at Stafford are a better caliber than Waterford.Rocco isn’t all that.
