WATERFORD – Keith Rocco is back to being the most dominant force in the Late Model division at the Waterford Speedbowl.

After a mid-race battle for the lead with Jason Palmer, Keith Rocco rolled away easily to victory in the 30-lap Late Model feature Saturday at the Waterford Speedbowl.

It was the third consecutive Late Model victory and ninth victory in 16 events overall in the division this year for Rocco, of Wallingford.

Jason Palmer of Berlin was second and Vin Esposito of Waterbury third.

Palmer went by Mike Sweeney Jr. for the lead with 26 laps left with Rocco following to second. After looking for a lane high around Palmer, Rocco dove to the low lane and got under Palmer off of turn two with 18 laps left and led at the line. Palmer fought on the outside for the next two laps before Rocco cleared him off of turn two with 15 laps left.

“I had a lot of fun racing with [Palmer],” Rocco said. “It seemed like he just wanted to give me the top. He was pretty fast and I wasn’t fast enough to go around him on the top. We just kept working the top and the bottom opened up a little bit and I got under him. I really had fun tonight.”

In the 25-lap Mini Stock feature it was Ken Cassidy Jr. of Lisbon holding off Larry Loomis of Moosup to win the 25-lap Mini Stock feature.

Loomis was second, grabbing his first career podium finish. Garrett Denton of Hope Valley, R.I. was third.
