Waterford Notes: Keith Rocco Clinches Second Title Of 2014; Mike Christopher Jr. Sets Winning Standard

New Speedbowl LogoWATERFORD – A second place meant for first place in the big picture Saturday night at the Waterford Speedbowl for Wallingford’s Keith Rocco.

Rocco finished second to Jason Palmer in the 30-lap Late Model feature Saturday at the Waterford Speedbowl to clinch his second consecutive Late Model division title for his Scott Fearn owned team.

Rocco’s second place finish in the event gave him a 77-point lead over Bruce Thomas Jr. of Groton in the standings, giving him an insurmountable lead going into the final event at the Waterford Speedbowl on Oct. 5.

Rocco had already clinched his second consecutive SK Modified division title at the track before Saturday’s event.

Palmer, of Berlin, picked up his third victory of the season. Thomas was third.

Mike Christopher Jr. of Wolcott won the 25-lap Legends feature. It was the 25th victory of the season for Christopher, setting a new single season record for victories at the track. Christopher surpassed the mark of 24 set by Rocco in 2013.

Ken Cassidy Jr. of Lisbon won the 25-lap Mini Stock feature. Paul Buzel of Trumbull won the 25-lap SK Light Modified feature.
