Garrett Denton Wins New England Racing Fuel Support Performer Of The Week Award

Sunday at the Waterford Speedbowl, 17-year old Garrett Denton said goodbye to the Mini Stock division at the Waterford Speedbowl by winning the final event of the season and clinching his first division championship.

Denton announced the 2014 season would be his last in the division as he prepares to begin college in August 2014.

But before exiting the scene, the Hope Valley, R.I. scored one more victory.

Denton led the way in voting this week to win the New England Racing Fuel Support Performer of the Week Award.

Denton garnered 81 of the 159 votes cast (50.9 percent). Josh Galvin, who won his 11th Street Stock feature of 2014 at the Speedbowl on Sunday was second in the voting with 25.2 percent.

Each week during the 2014 racing season the New England Racing Fuel RaceDayCT Support Performer of the Week will be chosen from among drivers competing in events in one of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly support divisions (excludes SK Modified divisions) at Stafford Motor Speedway, Thompson Speedway and the Waterford Speedbowl.

Denton will receive a $20 certificate for race fuel from New England Racing Fuel. The final voting results are listed below.
