Thirty Cars Entered For Valenti Modified Racing Series Event At Waterford Speedbowl

2014 VMRS LogoA brimming field is expected this weekend for the Valenti Modified Racing Series when they roll into the Waterford Speedbowl for a 100-lap feature, part of the Finale Weekend at the shoreline oval.

Thirty cars are currently on the entry list for the event, with some interesting names included in that group.

Teenager Chase Dowling of Roxbury, a winner as a rookie in the SK Modified division at Stafford Motor Speedway this season, is expected to make his series debut.

Longtime Speedbowl SK Modified division regular Kyle James of Ashaway, R.I. is on the entry list. James is a two-time winner in the SK Modified division at Waterford this year.

Valenti Modified Racing Series winners in 2014 at Waterford, Keith Rocco of Wallingford and Ted Christopher of Plainville, are both on the entry list. Rocco won the series season opener on April 13 at Waterford. Christopher won in the division’s most recent visit to the track in August.

Also, Dennis Perry of Pawcatuck, a regular in the SK Modified division at Thompson, is also on the entry list.

Qualifying for Sunday’s 100-lap feature is Saturday at Waterford.

  1. Andy Boright says

What would make it really interesting is if the Kevin Stuart team with Todd Szegedy was entered.

  2. Is that more cars than they had at Stafford last week?

  3. No Ryan Preece? That’s odd.

  4. Chris Economistaci says

30 cars is 36.4% more cars than Stafford had for the Fall Final…

  5. Wishing luck to team 46 and Jon Kay out of Florida… Love to see that yellow rocket it victory lane

  6. that’s a pretty average number for a vmrs race at the speedbowl, im moe interested in what the plan is regarding rain? sat is looking like a total washout. already took sunday offto go to what very well could be the final race ever at the good ole bowl. hopefuly they scratch all the un needed qualifying and run it on sunday

  7. The Reg Fan says

Is there a plan if qualifying rains out on Saturday?

  8. Time for rain tires.

  9. No one on the vmrs tour can beat the top 12 teams on the Whelen tour. To compare the two is wrong. It’s the same as comparing cup series to nationwide series. There both fun to watch but one modified tour is enough.

  10. And 26 will only start. It’s a shame. VMRS is becoming more and more popular then the WMT. They should think about allowing more drivers to race.

  11. Pretty dangerous when you let all that show up race. Let a guy that never raced a Mod, never raced at Wtfd that can’t qualify race just because he made the effort to show up! Guaranteed he’ll take out a front runner or two. Might be okay with four cylinders, but mods or SKs.

  12. Photographer says

The track makes the decision about how many cars take the field

  13. NewtownJack says

Having enough entries and limiting the feature field – sending cars home – improves/strengthens the competition.

  14. Photographer, you might want to check that, if that was true why wouldn’t Thompson let more than 26 race in the feature? Jason, I believe Chase Dowling is racing the Judkins 2X. Pretty sure that’s Preece’s grandfather.

  15. 28 Mods for the race 6-21-14 for WMT

  16. Thanks Brian that proves my point. The 26 car field is a vmrs rule.
