Thirty-Seven Cars On Whelen Modified Tour Entry List For Season Finale At Thompson

Whelen Modified TourThe sun setting on the 2014 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season will mean an overflowing entry list.

On Monday NASCAR announced a 37-car entry list for the Sunoco World Series 150 this coming weekend at Thompson Speedway.

The entry list includes Thompson Speedway SK Modified division regular Keith Rocco of Wallingford.

Also in the group of non-regulars is former Thompson Speedway champion Derek Ramstrom of West Boylston, Mass., who will be looking to make his second career Modified Tour start Sunday.

Former series regular James Civali of Meriden will return to action driving for team owner David Hill. Civali, a four-time series winner, is looking to make his first Modified Tour start since 2011.

Shawn Solomito of Islip, N.Y. will be looking to make his fourth start of the season and first since June 28 at Riverhead (N.Y.) Raceway. Also looking to make his Whelen Modified Tour debut will be Thompson Speedway regular SK Modified division regular Troy Talman.

Sunday’s event will see the 2014 series champion crowned. Doug Coby of Milford, the 2012 series champion goes into the event with a 28-point lead in the standings over Plainville’s Ted Christopher, the 2008 series champion.

  6. my guess, the 01 will get a provisional. She supported the series all year long and because of car counts at most races didn’t use many, if any provisional starts. So even though the car is slower then several others she will probably be out there.

    It is nice to see a healthy car count. It has been a long time since the tour sent cars home. Hopefully its a sign of good things for next season.
