NASCAR Announces 2015 Schedule For The Whelen Modified Tour

Whelen Modified TourEight events at Connecticut short tracks highlight the 2015 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour schedule released by the sanctioning body Wednesday evening.

The series will run 14 points events and one non-points all-star event during the 2015 season, at six different facilities.

No new tracks were added for the 2015 season and the Waterford Speedbowl was dropped from the schedule. Also dropped from the 2014 schedule was the special non-points UNOH Battle at the Beach at Daytona International Speedway. It had been previously announced that the event would not longer be scheduled.

Most of the dates and events announced as part of the schedule had previously been announced by tracks prior to Wednesday.

As has previously been reported, the series will visit Stafford Motor Speedway and Thompson Speedway four times each in 2015.

The series will have its season opening events – the Icebreaker – on April 12 at Thompson. The season ending Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing will also be at Thompson on Oct. 18. Thompson will also host events on June 10 and August 12.

Stafford will host the series for the Spring Sizzler on April 26 and the Fall Final on Oct. 4. In between Stafford will also host the division on June 5 and August 7.

The second non-points All-Star Shootout event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway will take place on July 17. The series will run points events at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on July 18 and Sept. 26.

The Whelen Modified Tour will have its annual combination event with the Whelen Southern Modified Tour at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway on Aug. 19.

The series will also visit Riverhead (N.Y.) Raceway twice in 2015, on June 27 and Aug. 29. Also on the schedule is a July 25 event at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, N.H.

The series had returned to the Waterford Speedbowl after a six-year hiatus in 2012. The Speedbowl hosted the series with June events the last three years, but with the track management situation currently in limbo, there was no event scheduled for the facility for 2015.

  1. Huh…

  2. Andy Boright says

    Sad!

And to think that some NASCAR minions claim that the reason the tour doesn’t have more races at more tracks is because teams are made up of volunteers and can’t take time off from work is B.S.

The real reason is all the $$$$ NASCAR demands

  3. Ralph Ridgeway says

Why is there 3 June races and no May race?

  4. Timothy Dolan says

We all know the reason the sprint cup doesen’t have double headers with the modifieds is because the modifieds put the cup guys to SHAME and idiots like mike helton know it!!!!!!!

  5. I agree with Tim Dolan. The WMT race is the only race worth watching all NHIS weekend. I used to go to all the weekend events but finally quit going at all after I grew tired watching only one good race all weekend.
