Doug Coby Leads The Way In Whelen Modified Tour Icebreaker 150 Practice At Thompson Speedway

THOMPSON – Doug Coby ended the 2014 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season raising the big trophy as series champion last October at Thompson Speedway.

Saturday he picked up right where he left off when the cars of the Whelen Modified Tour hit the track for the first time in 2015.

Coby, of Milford, led the way in practice Saturday for Sunday’s Whelen Modified Tour Icebreaker 150 at Thompson.

Coby toured the .625-mile oval in 18.740 seconds (120.064 mph).

Eric Goodale of Riverhead, N.Y. was second fastest at 18.759 seconds (119.942 mph). Woody Pitkat of Stafford was third fastest (18.804 seconds, 119.655 mph).

Qualifying for the Icebreaker 150 is later today.

Timmy Solomito of Islip, N.Y., making his first start for Flamingo Motorsports, was fourth fastest during the practice session at 18.833 seconds (119.471 mph). Bobby Santos III of Franklin, Mass. was fifth (18.840 seconds, 119.427 mph).
