STAFFORD – If it’s a race with a little extra special meaning in 2015 it seems Dan Dembek is the one to beat in the DARE Stock division at Stafford Motor Speedway.
On April 25 Dembek, of Hampden, Mass., won the season opening event at the NAPA Spring Sizzler in the DARE Stock division.
Friday night it was Dembek getting it done once again in the big event for the division.
Dembek held off Tyler Trott to win the 20-lap Xtramart Xtra D feature Friday at Stafford.
Trott, of East Hartford, was second. Frank L’Etoile Jr. of Wethersfield was third.
Confidence was pouring from Dembek on Friday. So much so that while his competitors were preparting for the evening’s feature, Dembek sat out practice.
“Usually it’s been on its game every week,” Dembek said. “My dad put a good setup underneath it. All I needed was tires. It’s great to win. It is breathtaking.”
Dembek went by L’Etoile for the lead on lap 12.
Dembek, in his second season in the division, said he never would have expected two in twice in the first four events of the season.
“I didn’t know the car would be on that good,” Dembek said. “My dad busts his rump all the time trying to get the car going. It is great.”
