STAFFORD – Ownership of the Limited Late Model division at Stafford Motor Speedway in 2015 has been possessed by the Saunders family.
On April 25 it was Albert Saunders scoring victory in the season opening 20-lap Limited Late Model feature at Stafford.
Friday it was his twin brother Cliff Saunders getting the job done.
Cliff Saunders of Stafford went the lead at the start and was never challenged at the front on the way to victory in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature Friday at Stafford.
“We got a good start and that helped,” Cliff Saunders said. “We had some problems in practice. We had some problems last week, so we were trying to sort through everything. The car was really really good.”
It was an all brother top-four in the feature. Paul Arute of Tolland was second, David Arute of Tolland third and Albert Saunders of Stafford fourth.
With Cliff Saunders checked out from the field, the drama on the track proved to be the Arute brothers battling for the runner-up spot.
“We were fighting pretty hard,” Paul Arute said. “I don’t think he’s a big fan of me right now, but it was fun.”
