New London Waterford Speedbowl LogoThe New London-Waterford Speedbowl wants racing fans to celebrate America’s birthday in the most affordable way possible.

It has come up with an amazing weekend that will feature NASCAR racing, stunt shows, family fun and great food — all at family-friendly prices.

The weekend gets under way on July 4 with a two-for-one admission special.

Two adults will receive admission for one low price of $18 that includes six divisions of racing, including the SK Modified, Late Models, Limited Sportsmen, Mini Stocks, SK Light Modified and the New England Truck Series, Qualifying will start at 5:30 and the racing gets under way at 7 p.m.
Tickets for youths 13-16 are $5 and children 12-and-under are admitted for free.

There will be an added bonus. A special barbecue will be held at the track from noon to 4 p.m. Hot dogs, hamburgers and salads will be on the menu. Many drivers are scheduled to be on hand and pace car rides will be given away as prizes.

Here’s the best part. The barbecue is priced at $10 for adults and $5 for children 6-15.

“This is our way to say thank you for the tremendous support we have received this year,” Speedbowl G.M. Shawn Monahan said. “Our goal is to make the July 4 holiday as affordable as possible. With two-for-one admission and a great cookout, we are making this an old fashioned July 4. We offer great food and the fastest entertainment in town at great prices. The Speedbowl is the ultimate place to spend the holiday.”

The action will continue July 5 for America’s Birthday Bash.

Returning to the Speedbowl is Tim Chitwood, who will entertain the fans with his unbelievable stunt show, including car jumping and two-wheel insanity. Another popular favorite, motorcycle stunt artist Luke “Duke” Emmons also will be on hand.

There also will be a Demo Derby, a combination 8- and 6-cylinder enduro, a ski race and the second installment of King of the Hill, where fans can bring their own cars and challenge other competitors on the Speedbowl oval.

“This is family entertainment at its best,” Monahan said. “The fans wanted us to bring back Tim Chitwood, and we listened. It will be a great show.”

The action will start at 6 p.m. Tickets are priced at $20 for adults, and $5 for youths 13-16. And at all Speedbowl events, children 12-and-under are admitted free.

“We have something for everyone,” Monahan said. “The best entertainment for the best prices.”
