Timmy Solomito Leads Pack In Whelen Modified Tour Mr. Rooter 125 Practice At Thompson

THOMPSON – When the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour kicked off the season on April 12 with the Icebreaker 150 at Thompson Speedway, Timmy Solomito ran with the leaders for most of the day.

Wednesday the Islip, N.Y. driver carried that Thompson momentum back to the track.

Solomito led the way in practice for tonight’s Whelen Modified Tour Mr. Rooter 125 at Thompson.

Qualifying for the event is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Solomito toured the .625-mile oval with a fast lap of 18.780 seconds (119.808 mph). Solomito ended up sixth in the season opener at Thompson. He is coming off a third place finish in the TSI Harley-Davidson 125 at Stafford Motor Speedway last Friday.

Woody Pitkat of Stafford was second during the one hour practice session Wednesday at Thompson with a fast lap of 18.882 seconds (119.161 mph).

Donny Lia of Jericho, N.Y. was third in practice (18.925 seconds, 118.890 mph).

Todd Szegedy (18.934 seconds, 118.834 mph) of Ridgfield was fourth fastest in practice and Derek Ramstrom (18.940 seconds, 118.796 mph) of West Boylston, Mass. was fifth.

Doug Coby of Milford, who won the season opening event at Thompson, was sixth fastest (18.951 seconds, 118.727 mph).

Keith Rocco of Wallingford, Bobby Santos III of Franklin, Mass., Ron Silk of Norwalk and Ryan Preece of Berlin rounded out the top-10 in practice respectively.
