Street Stock Tour’s Geoff Rollins, Patrick Tanguay Eye Home Track Lee Race With Different Views

(Press Release from the North East Street Stock Tour)

Northeast Street Stock Tour LogoAs the North East Street Stock Tour returns to Lee USA Speedway for “Friday Night Lights”, presented by the Gobbi Corporation, on July 31, two drivers look to the event from different ends of the spectrum.

Geoff Rollins is in mid-stride, after picking up the win in the Christmas in July event at Monadnock Speedway on July 11, and looks to continue his success at another of his home tracks, Lee USA Speedway. Rollins is currently second in points in the Late Model Sportsman at the track, and finished second in the exhibition event for the North East Street Stock Tour (NESST), back in May.

Rollins will be running his familiar orange #02 car in his return home, and is confident in the change, saying “We are piloting our own car that’s orange and has a 02, and anything orange goes faster. I have won a 50 lapper here with this car. We put this new car together in two weeks, but it doesn’t scare me at all.”

Rollins has not finished outside the top 5 in three races this season on the NESST, and attributes his success to his crew and sponsors. Amongst his competition for Friday’s event, Rollins mentions the winner of May’s exhibition event, Chris Douton, as a driver who could contend for the win, as well as Joe Arena, and the only back-to-back champion in the Hobby Stock division at Lee USA Speedway, Patrick Tanguay.

Tanguay looks to the “Friday Night Lights” event as a chance to rebound from his misfortune at Monadnock Speedway. After receiving damage from an on-track incident, Tanguay retired from the event early, earning a 15th place finish.

Tanguay went on to say “After having two top-four finishes in a row, Monadnock [Speedway] took a little wind out of our sails, but we have a great support system of friends and family that will make sure we are back on track this week.”

The return to Tanguay’s home track is important to the Lebanon, ME driver. A place which brought Tanguay so much success, Lee USA Speedway holds a special place in his heart.

“It means a lot to come back to Lee on a bigger stage,” continues Tanguay. “I feel the pressure to do well and represent my track this week. I’m just hoping that we do the home crowd well. Many of the drivers and officials at Lee are like my second family. I have been going to Lee since around 1990, so just want to represent them well.”

Geoff Rollins and Patrick Tanguay will do battle with the stars of the North East Street Stock Tour this Friday, July 31, at Lee USA Speedway in “Friday Night Lights”, presented by the Gobbi Corporation. Post time for this event is 7PM, with practice starting at 5PM. For more information, visit www.nestreetstocktour.com.
