THOMPSON – As a regular winner locally across the spectrum of short track racing in the Northeast, Ryan Preece has become used to the fact that he has his fans and he has his haters.
But when it comes to winning in the SK Modified division at Thompson Speedway, Preece believes you can hate him but don’t even think about have any ill-feelings for his Al and Cathy Moniz owned race team.
“It’s great because I love driving for Albert and Cathy [Moniz] because they’re great people,” Preece said. “Somebody could not like me, but you’ve got to like that car because you like Albert and Cathy. They’re just phenomenal people and they’ll do anything for you. I’m really happy for them.”
Preece took the Moniz family to victory lane once again this season Wednesday in winning the 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified feature at Thompson Speedway.
It was the fourth victory of the season at Thompson for Preece, of Berlin.
Woody Pitkat of Stafford was second and Keith Rocco of Wallingford third.
Preece went under Bert Marvin for the lead on lap two and never trailed again.
