Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park announced today that it will have an Air Titan 2.0 on hand for this weekend’s Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing presented by Xtra Mart, which will be headlined by the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season finale championship event.

The famed Connecticut oval, celebrating its 75th Anniversary, has gone the extra mile to make sure that the Sunoco World Series goes off without a hitch for fans planning to attend the annual three-day event by securing the services of the cutting-edge track-drying technology.

The Air Titan 2.0 was first introduced at Martinsville (Virginia) Speedway in March 2014. Operated out of the bed of a Toyota Tundra, the Air Titan 2.0 more than triples the blade capacity of the original version and delivers 2.6 times more air volume at a speed of 568 mph, while raising the air temperature by 70 degrees over ambient. With the combination of water removal and accelerated evaporation, the ultimate goal is to reduce track-drying time by 80 percent.

The Air Titan 2.0 has been utilized at NASCAR national series events since its introduction, including the Whelen Modified Tour race this year at Bristol (Tennessee) Motor Speedway, but Thompson will be the first NASCAR Home Track to have one of the units in place for a race weekend.

Hauler Parade
For the first time in many years, the Whelen Modified Tour will have a hauler parade as it sets the stage for the championship event. Thompson has organized the truck and trailer procession for Friday afternoon and fans are encouraged to come and cheer on their favorite team. The haulers will depart from K-Mart on Route 44 in Putnam, Connecticut, at 3:30 p.m., travel north on I-395 and come through the center of Thompson to arrive at the track at 3:45 p.m.

Where To Watch
The Whelen Modified Tour’s Sunoco World Series 150 will be televised by NBCSN on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. NASCAR Whelen All-American Series features and select touring series events will be streamed live from Thompson Saturday evening at FansChoice.tv, as will Sunday afternoon’s slate prior to the Sunoco World Series 150.
