(Press Release from New Hampshire Motor Speedway)

Legends Car Sunoco LogoThis weekend’s world championship weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway now has a sponsor, as the Legends Road Course World Finals will now be presented by Sunoco Race Fuels. The best Legends drivers from the Magic Mile’s Moat Mountain Road Course Series will be in the field of drivers from around the globe, including Finland, Sweden, Australia, England, South Africa and Canada, as well as across the United States.

Sunoco has served as the official sponsor of the Magic Mile’s Sunoco Victory Lane since July of 2014.

“Sunoco Race Fuels has been a part of some of the biggest events in racing around the globe,” said John Holland, Vice President and COO of Sunoco Race Fuels. “But that can’t happen without development racing series like the Legends division. Grassroots racing is the lifeblood of big-time motorsports and we are immensely proud to provide a quality race fuel and product for this weekend’s World Finals at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.”
New Hampshire Motor Speedway, which is celebrating its 25-year anniversary of hosting NASCAR racing this year, is home to Granite State Legends car racing. Legends have run at the speedway since 2011, but during the 2013 season expanded its racing into two series: the Moat Mountain Road Course Series, which races on the 1.6-mile road course, and the Sign Works Oval Series, which turns laps between Turns 1 and 2 on the 0.25-mile mini-oval.

“We are thrilled at the opportunity to host Legend car drivers from all around the world in a winner-take-all event that is sure to produce some of the best road course car racing we’ve ever seen at our facility,” said Ryan Ux, assistant sales manager of the Granite State Legends Cars, an on-property dealership. “I think our local drivers are excited for the opportunity to show what they’ve got against other competitors who will be coming from different regions the best in the world. It’s sure to be an electrifying weekend of racing.”

The Legends Road Course World Finals will be battled out over four different divisions – Pro, Semi-Pro, Masters and Young Lions – on the speedway’s 1.6-mile road course. There will be a test day on Friday, Oct. 16 with practices and heat races on Saturday, Oct. 17 to determine the fields for the finals on Sunday, Oct. 18.

Championship race schedule for Sunday, Oct. 18:
11:00 a.m. – Young Lion (12 laps)
11:30 a.m. – Semi-Pro (12 laps)
1:30 p.m. – Masters (12 laps)
2:00 p.m. – Pro (12 laps)

“I’m here to represent New Hampshire, just like everybody else that races here all year,” said reigning Moat Mountain Road Course champion Shawn Buffington, who will run in the Pro class. “We’ll do the best we can and hopefully bring a few more world championships back to New Hampshire.”

Bandoleros will also be participating in the three-day event. They will have the opportunity to test the track on Friday, Oct. 16 as well as practices and heat races on Saturday, Oct. 17 to determine their lineup for their championship event on Sunday, Oct. 18, which is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

A number of off-track events are also scheduled, including a Clam Bake on Friday, Oct. 16. Fans are encouraged to come meet and greet several of the drivers who will be participating in the World Finals. In addition, fans can enjoy lobster, steamers, boiled salt potato, corn on cob, coleslaw, and homemade apple crisp with ice cream for only $42 per person. Other food options will be available as well. And on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 7-9:30 p.m., a dance party will be taking place on VIP Street.

Race fans will have the opportunity to camp on property all weekend long for $25. There is limited availability of sites with water and electricity, so it will be a first come, first serve basis. Race fans will also have the chance to purchase pit passes and get a glimpse of these cars in the infield, as well as be able to purchase grandstand tickets.
