Ryan Preece will roll into Bristol Motor Speedway for the first time this weekend facing a new NASCAR format.

Saturday’s Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 Xfinity Series race will be broken into two 50-lap heat races and the 200-lap feature. It’s a new format for NASCAR in its No. 2 series.

Preece, driving the G&K Services Chevrolet, will be among the rookies challenging the track and the new format.

“I really don’t know what to expect with the changes, but I’m looking forward to getting on that track,” Preece said. “I’ve heard and read a lot about it over the years, but you really can’t imagine what to expect until you run some laps. We’ll hopefully get in a strong run.”

Practice is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. (ET) Friday.

Qualifying is set for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, with the heat races to follow at 12:30 p.m. The feature race is scheduled for 1:45 p.m.

The race: 106 miles, 200 laps (plus two 50-lap heats), race 7 of 33

  1. Tell Kyle bush to stay home or at least let the other racers race among themselves. He’s a bully in this this division taken purse money from the guys that really need it …..don’t like him spoiled brat…..

  2. Really Bob you are watching one of the sports greatest drivers ever and he drives for Joe Not for himself i think the other teams need to step it up.

  3. To be fair Bob, and everyone who doesn’t think CUP drivers should run Xfinity or trucks, then fool time Xfinity drivers shouldn’t be running SK’s or Sunoco mods…unless of course said driver is forever destined to compete in SK’s and Sunoco mods for many, many years to come.

  4. Sure Bob, and maybe they can have all the tour drivers stay home from the sizzler and hold the race with just the 01 car so she gets a chance to win -because it just isn’t fair and she deserves a chance as much as anyone. She’d probably still DNF due to “handling problems” but what the hell.

Did Preece forget he has been running Bristol on the Modified Tour since 2009?

  6. Nobody said Kyle wasn’t a great driver he’s one of the best , but it’s like taken candy from a baby when he has the best of everything and the others don’t. the best xfinity teams cant compete on the same level as Kyle . Taken all that purse money every week yes he’s a real big shot …… And yes a bully ……
