Thompson Speedway will host the first of its eight “Regular Season” weekly events Wednesday.

The track jumped from having seven oval events at the facility in 2015 to 10 in 2016.

The track will host seven Wednesday night events and one special Saturday night event on July 9.

The track kicked off its 2016 season April 9-10 with the running of the Icebreaker.

“We’re really looking forward to getting going,” Thompson Speedway general manager Josh Vanada said. “To me, this is the start of the regular season. The Icebreaker is a points race, but this kind of really gets us in the swing of things.

“It’s nice, we kind of get into a rhythm now with the oval with the start of our regular season. I’m really optimistic to see how this every other week type situation works out for us.”

Wednesday’s card features four divisions, showcased by a special 40-lap feature for the Limited Sportsman division, up from the division’s usual 20-lap length for features.

The event will pay $750 to win, $500 for second and $350 for third.

“I hope we can hit the 30 [car] mark for the Limited Sportsman division,” Vanada said. “It’s a lot of money for that division. It’s $750 to win, we normally pay $500. And we thickened up the [purse] the whole way through.”

Also on the card Wednesday is a 30-lap SK Modified feature, a 25-lap Late Model feature and a 15-lap Mini Stock feature.
