WATERFORD – Reigning New London-Waterford Speedbowl Limited Sportsman division champion Al Stone III made his way back to victory lane Saturday at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl.

Stone, of Durham, went to the lead with 16 laps remaining and was never challenged again in winning the 25-lap Limited Sportsman feature.

It was the second victory of the season for Stone.

“We were just trying to stay ahead of all the trouble,” Stone said. “We had a really good car all day. It was pretty much the best it’s been all year. It’s driving really well. … Just a great night.”

Chris Meyer of Norwich was second and Allen Coates of Ledyard third.

Seth Carlson of Brimfield, Mass. proved dominator in the 25-lap NEMA Midget feature.

Carlson led every lap on the way to victory.

Todd Bertrand of Danielson was second and Paul Scally of Raynham, Mass. third.

Carlson went by Scally for the top spot on the first lap and never was challenged again. Bertrand moved to second on the first lap but never was able to challenge for the lead.
