Doug Coby Tops Speed Charts In Second Whelen Modified Tour Practice At NHMS

LOUDON, N.H. – There’s no shortage of speed in Doug Coby’s Mike Smeriglio Racing camp at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend.

Coby backed up his fast time in the first NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice of the day Friday by leading the way in the second 45-minute session for the series Friday morning.

Coby, of Milford, put up a fast lap of 130.851 mph during the second practice. The reigning Whelen Modified Tour champion won the last series event at the track last September.

Woody Pitkat of Stafford was second fastest during the practice at 130.640 mph.

Todd Szegedy of Ridgefield, looking to make his second series start of the season, was third fastest during the session at 130.465 mph.

Ryan Preece of Berlin (130.429 mph) and Bobby Santos III (130.362 mph) rounded out the top five in practice.

Matt Swanson of Acton, Mass., Ron Silk of Norwalk, Vernon native Gary Putnam, Jimmy Blewett of Howell, N.J. and Eric Goodale of Riverhead, N.Y. rounded out the top-10 respectively.

  4. Teddy won the 50 lapper north south shootout with that engine in the 3 car.

    Teddy didn’t buy the ECR engine until the following year I believe that was a PT on loan from Little John
