Field For American Canadian Tour Bond Auto Invitational At NHMS Announced

(Press Release from American Canadian Tour)

ACT Invitational Logo BondThe 2016 American Canadian Tour (ACT) has announced the forty-three (43) teams that will make up the 8th annual Bond Auto ACT Invitational race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) Saturday, September 24, 2016.

ACT teams from all six New England states and the Province of Quebec will compete in the 50-mile race on the traditional Fall NASCAR weekend in Loudon, NH. The field will be led by Rowley, Massachusetts’ four-time winner of the event, Eddie MacDonald.

Joining “The Outlaw” will be former winners of the event, including Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., (Hudson, NH), Ray Parent, (Tiverton, RI), and Wayne Helliwell, Jr., (Dover, NH). “Eddie (MacDonald) is always the favorite, but with the handicap system ACT uses to line up the 50-lap dash, things can be unpredictable. Last year it looked like nobody was going to be able to run down Jimmy Hebert of Williamstown, VT who had an early breakout, and a very fast car. It looked like nobody was going to be able to catch him until something broke and put him out of contention. It is a fun race for us, and a lot of fun for race fans to watch,” said three-time Thunder Road International Speedbowl winner Nick Sweet from Barre, VT.

Quebec race fans will see the best of the SERIE ACT competitors at the 8th edition of the Bond Auto Invitational. The largest contingent of Quebec teams, including five (5) SERIE ACT Champions: Patrick Laperle, (St- Denis, QC), Donald Theetge, (Boischatel, QC), Alex Labbé, (St-Albert, QC), Dany Trepanier, (St-Edouard, QC), and Jean-François Déry, (Quebec City-QC). “This is the race that the Quebec fans and teams look forward to every year. It is an honor to be invited and able to race in front of the large crowd, and we know there will be many of our very supportive Quebec fans who will be at Loudon (NHMS) in a couple weeks. I am very excited, “ said 2015 SERIE ACT Champion Dany Trepanier.

The 8th annual Bond Auto ACT Invitational will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016 as part of the greatest triple header of racing on the NASCAR Championship Chase schedule. The trucks from NASCAR, NASCAR’s Whelan Modified Tour, and the American Canadian Tour will highlight the Saturday before the NASCAR Sprint Cup chase event on Sunday, September 25, 2016.

Ok, so does anyone except for me wonder why other local CT, RI, and MA standouts such as Keith Rocco, Jeff Smith, Jason Palmer, Rick Gentes, Matt Lowinski-Loh, Marc Curtis, William Wall, and Bruce Thomas are not on the list to be invited? Is ACT just another political game like NASCAR? Sure its great that Ray Christian has been invited but what about the others in our neighborhood that are just as qualified to be invited to the big show?

  2. Just wondering,
I don’t think most of the guys you listed showed any interest in running the event.

Shawn, I didn’t realize a person had to show interest in running an invitational event that seems to be so prestigious as getting a chance to run at NHIS. I would think any racer that would be offered an opportunity would jump on it. IMO ACT should send invitations to the top 75 racers in New England and see who wants to come. NHIS is huge they could easily start 50 or more like Thompson used to do at their 100 lap races they used to hold during the Thompson 300 weekends back in late 1980’s. Sure I realize it costs more money to travel to NHIS but I would think the race purse would be much better than running at a local track that would offset much of the costs. Maybe you can post what the purse is just so us fans can know.

All Were welcome to Test at Loudon, NH – on Wed August 24th . It was purely drivers decisions not to participate.

  5. So excited for Ray Christian III and the entire 93ct team! Can’t wait to see this race!

  6. 97motorsports says

You had to go to one of the practices that they held to be invited to the event

  7. Andy Boright says

It has been getting more difficult every year for ACT to find enough teams interested in racing at Loudon. The first year ACT ran at NHMS, they had almost 100 cars go up and test, this year 26!

Brian Tarbell’s season pretty much is one race at Thunder Road on Memorial Day when he rode the wall and destroyed his car. He may have run one or two races since, but not much more than that, and certainly not any spectacular results.

It has become a pointless race, where ACT is just picking warm bodies from the graveyard to give the appearance of a full field.

I think the cost to run this race keeps some of the smaller teams away.its 1200 to just register car

  10. Its was not able local area favorites. It is not just an invitation. It took a lot of work to get. It took weeks of prep for people to get up there. You had to go to the practice and run, and hope to be invited! Maybe the other drivers you mentioned did not go. Those on this l left work very hard to get there nothing was handed to them.

  11. It is not about local favorites. It was an invitation you had to earn. There were weeks and weeks of prep to go up for the practice run where drivers were selected. The drivers on this list worked extremely hard to get their invitation nothing was handed to them. So if they didn’t even go I had no chance of being considered.

  12. This is safety driven. You don’t need or want some novice running this race with the speeds the way they are. You probably have less cars at tests because most of these guys have run NHMS several times now and earned an invite through past experience. It’s like the rookie course all new drivers at Daytona are required to take. It is an ACT event so the fact that they don’t have a lot of outsiders is fine with me. I wish tracks like Richmond and Martinsville would do events like this for their local racers. Race fans have it good up here in New England.

  13. Bill Realist says

“You don’t need or want some novice running this race with the speeds the way they are.”

Good god man did you read the entry list!! There are more than a half dozen on there that nobody in their right mind wants to go into the corner at 150mph along side of.

  14. wondering, did it ever occur to you they didn’t want to go? act tour at waterford, locals that raced, none did very well. Seekonk act tour , again the locals that came out to race were not much of a factor. Last years world series, well same thing. there will be 40 or so starters and the top 25 or so will be putting on a hell of a show. If you have never been, worth checking out.

  15. We went to practice with the #70 Rick Gentes car, but couldn’t stay for the practice races because we had to race Thompson the same day (in the point battle), so that may have something to do with it.

  16. Andy Boright says

There are at least 3 drivers on that list who have not driven an ACT Late Model at all in 2016, and at least another dozen or so drivers who have 5 or less starts in an ACT Late Model in 2016.

The person who claimed this list was based on safety is full of crap. The lack of quality teams used to fill the field is what are keeping the more successful teams away. The Thunder Road track champion won’t be there, and neither will the hottest driver on the ACT Tour, Scott Payea and RPM motorspots.
