DARLINGTON, S.C. – Ryan Preece turned in a remarkable performance in his first race at Darlington Raceway Saturday, finishing 10th in the VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200.

The finish was a seasonal best for Preece, whose previous top finish – 11th—was scored the previous week at Road America.

“We’ve had a great few weeks,” said Preece, who finished 15th at Bristol, Tenn. three weeks ago. “The guys have given me really good cars, and to do this well – getting our first top 10 – at one of the toughest tracks in the world is really something. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do the rest of the year.”

Preece raced as high as ninth as he kept the G&K Services Chevrolet in the lead group all afternoon.

He remains 17th in Xfinity driver points with two races left in the regular season.

Elliott Sadler won the race in a tight duel with Denny Hamlin and padded his point lead.

The series moves on to Richmond, Va. for a Sept. 9 race as the end of the regular season approaches.
