Thompson Speedway Will Not Have Makeup For Rained Out Wednesday Event

Thompson Speedway Logo 2016 280x165Thompson Speedway officials announced Thursday that they will not make up their Way Back Wednesday event which was rained out last night.

Lingering showers forced track officials to call the event off.

A release from the track Thursday read:

“Due to the congested end of year racing schedule in New England, and existing rental obligations here, TSMP has decided to cancel the September 7 event without a makeup date. There will be no NASCAR Whelen All-American Series points races added to the Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing, presented by Xtra Mart. NEAR and the Vintage Outlaws will now be added to the racing roster on Friday night of the World Series. TSMP officials are still working with STAR to determine if they will be able to participate in the event.

“Tickets and pit passes purchased will be honored at face value towards the purchase of a World Series pit pass or grandstand ticket. Those wristbands and tickets must be presented at the World Series in order to receive the credit.”

Those looking for more information can visit the Thompson Speedway website of call the track (860-923-2280).

Comments

  1. We stayed drinking until 9pm and it never rained

  2. Frank Rizzo says

So if you bought a ticket or a pit pass last night all you bought was an early 1/3 ticket to the a World Series because no refund option is avaliable.. . That’s essentially spitting on your customers. If I had a ticket and wasn’t planning on attending the WS, I would be calling the CT Attorney General.
I’m outraged at how these tracks manage anything to do with rain!

  3. How they don’t have a raindate is beyond me. When you don’t have a full season to begin with, you should at least have raindates for what you do have. The oval takes a backseat again.

  4. They care about road racing and golf…..What else do you need to know.

  5. Prior to the ice breaker weekend, Josh Vanada of TSMP stated on the victory lane radio show that they would have built in rain dates which were designated thursdays for each of the wed shows. It was even on the website under the 2016 nascar racing schedule. I don’t know what happened to it ,but it is not there now. This is a bad deal for the fans but especially those race teams tring to win a championship. I don’t get how there is not an open date from now til the world series???Im a huge supporter of Thompson, but this is not right!!!

  6. Definatelly not good for the teams that are close in points sitting in 2nd or third… It just shows you the revenue isn’t being made on the Oval for them.. Too bad they couldn’t go back to Sundays…

  7. This is the first year that I have not attended a race there. The admission prices are way too expensive. They do not care about the drivers, crews or the fans. The car counts have been terrible. Even some of the Road Race series cancelled races there. There needs to be new management or else this place will definitely be another 9 holes for the golf course.

  8. SKL Fan, What do you think the pros are for running on Sundays?? I think its a good idea to run the weekly series on sundays and still keep the tour events on Wed night with the the weekly ? Just curious what others think!

  9. Crazy Larry says

Well Josh needs to go !! Other Office officials have ask people why they’re losing their fan base this is a good reason bad management and also go back to Sunday racing Wednesdays suck that’s why the car Count also low
