Over the last decade Keith Rocco has become a dominant force in SK Modified racing at all three Connecticut short tracks. Now it seems the Wallingford driver is looking to become a force as a car owner.
The Keith Rocco Racing stable of SK Modified’s in the field at Thompson Speedway this year will grow to three for the remainder of the season.
When Thompson Speedway returns to action May 21, Troy Talman of Oxford, Mass. will behind the wheel of a Keith Rocco Racing SK Modified.
“It makes me feel really excited to have this opportunity to run one of Keith’s cars,” Talman said. “I think he’s equally talented at setting up cars as he is as a driver. He’s the whole package. So I think it’s a great scenario for me to get this chance.”
Ted Christopher is also running a Keith Rocco Racing SK Modified full-time this year at Thompson.
“That’s a pretty cool thing to say I’m running with those guys,’ Talman said. “Growing up, those guys having been winning since I was just a little kid, so it’s pretty cool to get to race with them.”
Talman had hoped to have put together a part-time deal on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour for 2017, but those hopes fell through just weeks before the start of the season. Talman missed the first SK Modified event of the year at Thompson on April 2.
“Everyone wants to run the full year, things happened at the beginning of the year where stuff fell through for us,” Talman said. “We just want to go racing and my sponsors want to see me on the track. Everyone wants to run for points, but you could say there’s less thought of points for us so that could be a good thing to not think about.”
Talman will bring primary sponsorship from Digital Federal Credit based out of Marlborough, Mass.
“I can’t wait to get out there and learn some stuff,” Talman said. “I’m sure I can learn a whole bunch from Keith, setup-wise and driving-wise. It’s been a while since I got in a real good situation like this so I’m just excited.”
It’s a nice thing to see Keith branching out and helping others,this team will definitely be a force to be reckoned with, good luck Troy and the whole Rocco team!

Keith is not branching out to help,Its a business,he is doing this to fund his own racing and feed his family.Money,Money,Money.The kids with the richest parents ,WIN.Thats the way it goes now.
Regardless of Keith’s motivation, this is still s great opportunity for Troy. How many young guns out there would like to work with Kid Roc? And his other new teammate, TC? I had a chance a couple of years ago to talk to a couple of Troy’s team; they seemed like really nice guys. Best of luck to all!
