Talent Runs Deep At Tri-Track Open Mod Open Wheel Wednesday At Seekonk June 27

(Press Release from Tri-Track Open Modified Series)

Seekonk Speedway has been family owned, operated, and promoted for over 70 consecutive years by the Venditti Family. Maybe more so than any other track in the northeast, Seekonk is also known for their legendary racing families. The likes of the Astles, Berghmans and Bouchards have won races and championships at Massachusetts’ only remaining race track. On the track’s regular Saturday nights ‘newer’ family names have emerged like Johnson, Pelland, Tripp, Vanasse, and, of course, Annarummo.

On Wednesday, June 27, Todd Annarummo, who has returned to his racing roots in the Pro Stocks, will jump back aboard a Modified in search of another victory at Open Wheel Wednesday for the Tri-Track Open Modified Series (TTOMS). Todd and his Seekonk ‘Wall of Fame’ father Vinnie are the only father-son duo to win Open Wheel Wednesday Modified honors.

Open Wheel Wednesday features 100 laps of green flag racing for the tour-type Modifieds with the winner earning $10,000. As part of the racing action, both the NEMA Midgets and the NEMA Lights go 29 laps in honor of Boston Louis Seymour. Grandstands open at 4pm. Fans are invited to participate in an autograph session on the midway at 5:30pm with all drivers in competition on Wednesday night.

While Seekonk Speedway is steeped in family legacy, racing runs deep with the Tri-Track Open Modified Series as well. And, all that talent will be on display during 100 laps of green flag tour-type modified racing at the ‘Cement Palace’ on Wednesday, June 27.

While approaching legendary status himself, defending Open Wheel Wednesday and TTOMS champion Matt Hirschman is the son of Tony, who is considered by many to be Modified racing royalty. Ryan Preece, who is a serious threat to win the 10K payday, is a third generation driver. He is the grandson of NEAR Hall of Famer Bobby Judkins.

With one of the most prolific family racing histories in the field, Andy Jankowiak is in search of his first victory in Tri-Track Open Modified Series competition next Wednesday night. His racing roots date back to his grandfather and include his much-heralded mother, father and uncle. Mother Debby holds a place in history as one of only two female drivers to score a feature win at Dunn Tire Raceway Park (formerly known as Lancaster Speedway).

Andy’s father Tony was a local Modified hero in New York in the ‘80s before a tragic accident at Stafford took his life. A dedicated racer, Andy’s Uncle Tommy Druar, would go out in search of new racing adventures and had earned the nickname “the Travelin’ Man”. He, too, was taken too soon in a crash at Lancaster in 1989.

Making the long-haul from Tonawanda, NY to regularly complete in TTOMS competition, Jankowiak could also be considered “the Travelin’ Man”. He is also among the sentimental favorites to win on Wednesday night.

Young Blake Barney drives for his grandfather Dick Barney, a legendary car owner who fielded cars for Hall of Famers Tony Siscone and Reggie Ruggiero. Jeff Gallup is the son of Richie, a standout at the now defunct Riverside Park Speedway. A host of others like Mike Holdridge, Colbey Fournier, Dan Meservey, Sammy Rameau, Les Rose and more have followed in their father’s footsteps.

With the racing pedigree of the current and future stars of TTOMS, a track with a rich history and a prestigious racing event, Wednesday, June 27 is sure to make for a legendary night of racing.

The roster of nearly 40 preregistered drivers also includes Chase Dowling, Les Hinckley, Tommy Barrett, Stephen Masse, Rowan Pennink, Derek Ramstrom, Ronnie Silk, Woody Pitkat, Russ Hersey, Anthony Nocella, Richard Savary and others. A complete list can be found by following Tri-Track Open Modified Series on Facebook.

Qualifying gets underway at 6:30pm with heat races for all divisions followed by a pair of Modified b-mains (if necessary). Feature racing will commence immediately following qualifying. General admission is $27 and pit admission is $37. A rain date has been set for Thursday, June 28.

Tickets are available online by visiting SeekonkSpeedway.com or by calling the Speedway office at 508.336.9959 Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. To learn more about the Tri-Track Modified Series, visit tritrackmods.com.
