LOUDON, N.H. – NASCAR race weekend proved to be successful for local nonprofits with the dedication of both Speedway Children’s Charities New Hampshire Chapter and the many volunteer groups who were all giving their time in exchange for donations, which totaled nearly $245,000.

SCCNH hosted seven events over the course of the week, including Laps for Charity, Ricky Craven’s “One for the Kids” Golf Tournament, Champions Breakfast, the Wicked Good Live Auction, Helicopter Rides, Track Walk Presented by PPG and the Red Bucket Brigade by PPG. These events, plus other donations, helped SCCNH raise more than $118,000 for local children’s charities and groups.

“I am so appreciative of the generosity of our NASCAR fans,” said Hillarie Scott, director of Speedway Children’s Charities New Hampshire Chapter. “Being my first year in this position, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but they really dug deep to help so many children right here in our community.”

Each December, Speedway Children’s Charities New Hampshire Chapter distributes grants to nonprofit organizations in the region. Since its inception in 2009, the Granite State chapter has raised more than $1.7 million, which has benefitted more than 667,000 children across New England.

Teams of motivated fundraising groups also help NHMS over the course of its major event weekends. From grandstand cleaning to landscaping to parking and concession stands, these volunteers help make the speedway look its best from green flag to checkered flag. In return, these groups are paid as a way to fundraise toward the nonprofit organization they represent. This year, 87 volunteer groups raised nearly $127,000 during race weekend to help their chosen nonprofits. Levy, the official caterer of NHMS, employs the help of two local colleges (Southern New Hampshire University and University of New England), putting their students to work on race weekend to earn funds for their Men’s Hockey team (SNHU), Cheerleading team (SNHU) and Women’s Ice Hockey team (UNE).

On Thursday, September 20, SCCNH will be hosting the Charity Clay Shoot at 20th Skeet & Clays in Hooksett from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Join SCCNH for a fun day of clay shooting and enjoying the great outdoors of New Hampshire. The cost is $300/person or $1,000/foursome.
