Timmy Solomito Tops Final Whelen Mod Tour NAPA Final 150 Practice At Stafford

STAFFORD – Timmy Solomito had four NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour wins in 2016. Five more in 2017.

But the search for a victory in 2018 remains.

That quest, with two events remaining, moves to the NAPA Fall Final 150 Sunday at Stafford Speedway.

Saturday Solomito showed the speed is there contend.

Solomito, of Islip, N.Y., led the way in the final practice Saturday at Stafford Speedway in preparation for Sunday’s NAPA Fall Final 150.

Solomito toured the half-mile oval with a fast lap of 18.421 seconds.

Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville, N.Y., who is looking to clinch his first series championship Sunday, was second during the 40-minute session with a fast lap of 18.443 seconds.

Burt Myers of Walnut Cove, N.C. was third fastest at 18.452 seconds.

Chase Dowling, coming off his first career Whelen Modified Tour victory Saturday in the Musket 250 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway last week, was fourth during the session. Dowling, of Roxbury, had a fast lap of 18.475 seconds.

Ron Silk of Norwalk was fifth on the time sheets at 18.840 seconds.

Eric Goodale or Riverhead, N.Y., who led the first 40-minute session of the day, was sixth fastest. Rob Summers, Craig Lutz, Dave Sapienza and Bobby Santos III rounded out the top-10 in the practice respectively.
