LOUDON, N.H. – The finishing order of the inaugural NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Musket 250 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway proved to be a party crashing of series part-timers.

In his sixth start of the season, Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, N.Y., had a season best second place finish.

Making his seventh start this year and first career start at NHMS, Burt Myers of Walnut Cove, N.C. had a series career best third place finish.

Andy Seuss of Hampstead, N.H., was fourth in his fifth series start of the season.

Emerling was third behind leader Justin Bonsignore and second place Ryan Preece going into turn three on the final lap. When the two of them made contact and headed toward the wall in turn three, race winner Chase Dowling went low and got under Emerling through the corner.

“It came down to strategy there,” Emerling said. “We didn’t have the best car, we just had an awesome strategy, it really worked out in our favor. We really put ourselves in position right at the end. … Chase was able to stick it in there and I just kind of lost the spot there.”

Myers said his deal to compete in Loudon had come together a week before the event.

“I could do this every weekend to be honest with you,” Myers said. “I’ve watched these races on TV. I’ve heard all my friends, [Monster Energy Cup Series] guys talk about the Modified race is the best race of the weekend. Today was a testament to it. … I don’t want to sound like a kid at Christmas, but for a 42-year old to get to come here for the first time, I feel almost giddy.”

Seuss fought back from a lap down, getting a luck dog pass when caution flew on lap 235. He went from sixth place to fourth on the final lap

“Fortunately for us the race was 250 laps.” Seuss said. “It took us all day to get back on the lead lap.

“Overall I am happy for Bryan Dauzat Motorsports and O.B Builders. Finally we had something go right with this car. We have had a good car every time that we unloaded. We have just had some terrible luck this year. So I am really excited to have something finally go right.”
