The Mini Stock portion of the Pro All Stars Series Commonwealth Classic at Richmond International Raceway (VA) on March 31st has attracted instant interest from several East Coast short track teams.

In just the first week of entries being accepted for the race, a total of eight drivers have committed and paid their entry fees for the event.  These drivers represent a total of five different states.

The early entrants for the race are a diverse bunch.  Two teenage rising stars from New Hampshire, Devin Guy and Matthew Kimball, have registered along with multi-time NEMST feature winner Nick Anderson of Massachusetts and New Hampshire NEMST veteran Jake Rheaume.

To nobody’s surprise, Connecticut’s “Roadmap” Mitch Bombard, has also entered the Commonwealth Classic.  Bombard earned his nickname from famed racing announcer Matt Buckler due to his record of traveling to long distance races.  Richmond will mark the 33rd track where Bombard has competed at during his career.

Representing North Carolina, so far, will be Shane Canipe from Hildebran and Barry Wilson of Stokesdale.

Also entered into the Commonwealth Classic is Brian Sprague of Brooksville, Pennsylvania.

Currently, there are three Acuras, two Hondas, one Nissan, one Chevrolet and a Ford Mustang entered into the event.

The Mini Stock portion of the Commonwealth Classic is being promoted by the North East Mini Stock Tour in conjunction with the Carolina Mini Stock Challenge and Midwest Dash Series.  Competitors from any of these series are welcome to enter the race using the rules package of their declared tour.  The event will be run using complete NEMST rules and procedures.  The purse will be increased for this event with a $1,000 being awarded to the winner plus various bonuses and incentives that will be announced.

The Commonwealth Classic is a weekend showcasing short track racing at the three-quarter mile Richmond oval.  The weekend is headlined by the PASS Super Late Models and features several other divisions of short track racecars.  For more event information, please visit ProAllStarsSeries.com.
