THOMPSON – Thompson Speedway officials tried to go toe-to-toe with Mother Nature Sunday, unfortunately Mother Nature won.

After battling through an intense mid-afternoon storm and two more bands of light showers, Thompson Speedway officials made the decision at about 4:15 Sunday to call off their Whelen All-American Series event card.

More rain was expected to arrive later in the evening, forcing the decision.

The event will now be run on Sunday Sept. 1.

Thompson returns to action on July 28.
