Matt Hirschman Tops Turkey Derby Tour Type Mods; Noah Korner Wins Legends Feature

A month ago at Seekonk Speedway Matt Hirschman was the star player of fiery dramatic show on the last lap of Tri-Track Open Modified Series Haunted Hundred Tour Type Modified event.

That day Hirschman was disqualified from victory after wrecking Ron Silk in the final corner of the event.

Saturday at Wall Stadium in Wall, N.J. Hirschman was just plain the star to be celebrated in far less dramatic style.

Hirschman started on the pole and led every lap on the way to victory in the 150-lap Tour Type Modified feature at the Turkey Derby.

It was the fourth career Turkey Derby Tour Type Modified victory for the Northampton, Pa. driver.

Home track driver Andrew Krause of Holmdel, N.J. was second and Tyler Truex of West Lake, N.J. third.

NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour regulars Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville, N.Y. and Matt Swanson of Acton, Mass. rounded out the top-five respectively.

Stafford Speedway SK Light Modified regular Noah Korner of Canton was victorious in the 30-lap Legends feature. His brother Glen Korner was sixth in the 27-car field.

  1. I think he won both races

  2. Congrats to Matt and his team. Dominant day, winning pole, then leading every lap.

  3. I know I was not there just like Doug who I am certain will comment so I guess I can as well. Sound like complete and total domination by Matt. Congrats Crazy, you guys were locked, loaded and got the job done!

  4. Dominant for sure. Some points and questions. Did not see what caused Sapienza to spin. Preece seemed to be having issues all day. Why was he forced to rear of the field at the START of the race. Bonsignore qualified terrible but raced great.

Also TREMENDOUS crowd. Great to see SRO at a race track.

It is great to read that Matt closed out his season with a win. I was at the Haunted Hundred (Seekonk) where Matt kind of lost his cool on the last lap and sidelined Silk and Swanson. It was, however, one of the most exciting finishes of a modified race we witnessed all season! We were talking about it at Thanksgiving day dinner! Matt felt bad about it instantly and walked to Silk’s transporter and patched it up. We saw the entire episode. We are very lucky to have the number of great drivers that compete all over the northeast. Thank you to RaceDayCT for great coverage and giving such knowledgeable fans the opportunity to post their input.
