RaceDayCT Modified Speedweeks Coverage From Florida Coming

Ice, snow and cold is the theme of the Northeast today, where Modified racing reigns supreme.

But down in Florida the weather is perfect to get the 2020 Modified racing season kicked off.

And RaceDayCT will have all the Modified racing covered from New Smyrna Speedway and Bronson Speedway.

The Florida race week for the Modifieds begins Saturday at Bronson Speedway in Archer, Fla with the running of the fifth annual Kickoff to Speedweek presented by Sunoco.

From Bronson the action moves to New Smyrna, Fla. for the 54th annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.

The World Series formally kicks off on Friday Feb. 7 at New Smyrna Speedway, but the Tour Type Modifieds roll into town Monday night and run five consecutive nights at the track, capped by the annual Richie Evans Memorial 100 on Friday Feb. 14.

We’ll have a special live updates page each night of the Modified action in Florida with RaceDayCT’s Denise DuPont, Jim DuPont and Curtis DuPont on site for every feature.

RaceDayCT’s Modified coverage from Florida is presented all week by PSR Products

Comments

  1. They practiced last night at New Smyrna. Not many but Nocella seemed to be the quickest turning a lap at 17.29. Bertuccio’s 2 is at 17.37 and Preece at 17.51.
The competition will be brutal. Last year Hossfeld qualified at 17.19 on night 4 and this year a massive field will be doing everything they can to qualify well seeing as how the field is massive. Who wants to be stuck back in the pack first because it’s back in the pack and nothing good happens back there and second these guy’s and gal don’t know each other that well.
Sub plots on my radar are Preece of course both himself and his partner Pollard although Pollard is a question mark after his engine blew in practice. Jeremy Gerstner in the PSR Product #17. Their own chassis, motor and components with lofty expectations. Amy C of course who had a great week last year before being taken out by a bonehead. Blewett with Tommy Baldwin as crew chief driving for Joe Bertuccio with no real plans for the year. Bertuccio with three cars and one that may be driven by Hossfeld if the rumor pans out. All the different regions with representatives. Upstate NY, the Long Island gang, PA and NJ, Northern New England, Southern modified teams. NWMT teams vs Southern Modified Racing Series vs ROC vs MRS vs Hirschman.
If you have Roku it’s now in the Channel Store so throw it up on the big TV, put RaceDayCt live updates on your computer, grab a snack and get ready for the launch of the 2020 modified racing season.

  2. Shawn, thanks for all racedayct.com does. This is great coverage, much needed these days. This will help with the Cabin Fever we in the north are experiencing.

  3. Pollard no longer a question mark; done for the week before the week started. Someone forget to put oil in?

  4. Ran a test with my Roku Friday night and it was a DNF. Easy to get the stream on Roku and the picture quality was outstanding. So outstanding it over heated my Roku Ultra…a first. Threw a frozen bag of peas on it and it was good to go.
Pollard’s out is he. Oh well. Should have been Dowling in the first place.
