Sources: Tri-Track Open Modified Series To Reschedule Monadnock Season Opener

Multiple sources close to the management of the Tri-Track Open Modified Series have confirmed to RaceDayCT that the series will reschedule its season opening event from Saturday July 4 to Sunday July 5 at Monadnock Speedway.

The Tri-Track Open Modified Series announced plans for the July 4 season opener at Monadnock in Winchester, N.H. on Tuesday morning.

Tuesday afternoon NASCAR shocked many in the Modified racing community when they announced the Whelen Modified Tour would add an event to their schedule to be run on July 4 at White Mountain Motorsports Park in Woodstock, N.H.

Sources said that in an effort to accommodate drivers or teams looking to compete in both events, Tri-Track Open Modified Series management, in cooperation with management at Monadnock Speedway, made the decision to reschedule to Sunday July 5.

Management from the Tri-Track Open Modified Series was not immediately available for comment Wednesday afternoon. Series officials are expected to officially announce the decision to reschedule the event at some point today.

The Tri-Track Open Modified Series was originally scheduled to open its season May 2 at Monadnock Speedway before the the COVID-19 global pandemic forced business shutdowns across the country.

The Monadnock event will pay a winner’s purse of $6,000 with $3,250 to be paid for second and $2,600 for third, with a total purse of more than $40,000. NASCAR has not announced a purse structure for the event at White Mountain Motorsports Park. The Whelen Modified Tour has never run at White Mountain, which is not a NASCAR sanctioned track.
