Comments

  1. Night racing under the cool October sky. Doesn’t get better than that. World Series weekend just become epic with both tracks going.

More positive news for the local racing community. Gotta love it

  3. Shawn, this schedule shows the Stafford NWMT date as Sept 26, with Sept 27 as a rain date, and the NASCAR site is saying the date is Sunday, Sept 27.

    You know which is correct?

  4. Great to see the NWMT coming to Stafford. The updated schedule looks great, let’s hope mother nature is kind, and Covid stays controlled enough for it to happen. Thanks to the Arute family for the work they’re doing to try and make all of this happen in these crazy days.

  5. Darealgoodfella,
Saturday Sept. 26 is the date. I’m guessing NASCAR has not update their schedule to reflect the change from the originally scheduled date.

  6. Federal Court Upholds Ban on Spectators at Auto Racing Tracks
    PUBLISHED 3:20 PM ET Aug. 11, 2020

A federal court on Tuesday upheld New York’s ban on spectators at auto racetracks after five of the tracks had challenged the move.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has placed a ban on large gatherings in the state in order to curtail the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, though exceptions have been made for religious gatherings.
But sporting events have resumed after fans in attedance: Baseball and horse racing both have held events without spectators.
Live race tracks based around upstate New York, however, sued the state earlier this year over the ban: The Lebanon Valley Speedway, Genessee Speedway, Airborne Speedway, Albany Saratoga Speedway, and Fonda Speedway.
They argued the ban placed a limit on their First Amendment right to peacefully assemble, a claim the court dismissed while also upholding the power of the governor during the pandemic.
The New York State Legislature provided Cuomo with significant powers during a pandemic, and Cuomo’s use of that authority cannot be said to have exceed ‘the confines of the people’s constitutional rights,'” wrote U.S. District Court Judge Lawrence Kahn.
He added, “A state’s regulatory authority during a public health crisis is wide.”

Now with the speedbowl open, it’s nice that Stafford went back to their regular schedule for Friday nights besides the tour race. Friday’s at Stafford and Saturdays at Waterford is somewhat a turn back to normalcy. Seen some comments on social media that said screw Waterford and run Stafford every Saturday. Glad Stafford management has common sense.
