Ron Silk Leads Whelen Modified Tour NAPA 150 Practice At Stafford Speedway

STAFFORD – Ron Silk led the way in practice for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour NAPA Auto Parts 150 Saturday afternoon at Stafford Speedway. 

Silk, of Norwalk, toured the half-mile oval with a fast lap of 18.759 seconds during the one-hour practice session. 

Silk got his first and only win this season on Sept. 3 at Thompson Speedway. 

Jon McKennedy of Chelmsford, Mass. was second fastest during the session at 18.785 seconds. 

Reigning series champion Doug Coby of Milford, who goes into Saturday’s event second in the series standings behind Justin Bonsignore, was third in the practice at 18.786 seconds. 

Chase Dowling (18.793 seconds) of Roxbury and Matt Swanson (18.822 seconds) of Acton, Mass. rounded out the top-five in practice respectively. 

Bonsignore (18.854 seconds), who holds a 27-point lead over Coby in the standings with two events remaining this season, was eighth fastest. Bonsignore, the 2018 series champion, is making his 38th career series start at Stafford and is looking for his first career series win at the historic venue.
