Whelen Modified Tour Thompson 150 At Thompson Speedway Postponed To Thursday

(Press Release from Thompson Speedway)

Officials have postponed the Thompson 150 that scheduled for Wednesday at Connecticut’s Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park due a rapidly worsening weather forecast. The event will now be held Thursday, September 3.

As recently as early Tuesday morning, the weather looked favorable for the original Thompson 150 race date. However, the outlook deteriorated throughout the day and into the night, leaving track and series officials with no choice but to put the event on hold for one more day.

The event program will remain exactly the same with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour plus all five local Thompson Speedway divisions. Qualifying starts at 5:00pm on Thursday, September 3 with the first feature rolling to the grid at 6:00pm.

“Only 24 hours ago, we fully expected to race on Wednesday,” event co-promoter Cris Michaud said. “Unfortunately, the weather situation can change fast in the Northeast. We look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday and finally getting the Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park racing season underway.”

Advance tickets are still available at https://happsnow.com/event/Thompson-Speedway-Motorsports-Park-YHPQ(link is external). Admission is $44 for adults and $25 for kids ages 12 and under. All tickets already purchased will be honored on Thursday.

  1. I find it ironic that since they went to Wednesday night events, it seems a number of the WMT events have had weather issues and ended up running on Thompson’s more traditional Thursday. I think 3 out of 5 were bumped to Thursday because of weather, and one had weather issues on the Wednesday it did run.

  2. 🌈🦄2020 says

Was there a rain date posted before today? Why the big mystery?

  3. Good call, it’s been raining on and off all day. It would have turned out to be a race car sit in, as they struggled to dry the track, only to lose it to rain again. Tommorow the weather looks to be almost perfect, maybe a tad muggy

  4. This event has been midweek for 15 or 20 years regardless of weekly programs. I think it’s awesome that the rain date is always the next night. It works out well and doesn’t mess up the rest of the schedule. Obviously saves the teams money as they don’t have to make a second trip either. I like it.

  5. Anybody seen Busch beers new product? Dog Brew. Now you can sit down and enjoy a frosty beer with your 4 legged friend. What will they come up with next?

  6. Man’s best friend Rob P. And yes, I bet there are a bunch of dog owners out there that would rather have a beer with man’s best friend, than say, their “supposed” best friend lol! So why not! If the marketing ploy works…….

  7. Dog brew, great stuff. I would sit down with my 4 legged best friend and have a beer with him any day. I will check it out and we will have a cold brewski together real soon!
