STAFFORD – Alexandra Fearn went to Stafford Speedway Friday night and did everything she could do to win her first Limited Late Model championship at the track.

The problem for Fearn is that Andrew Durand did exactly what he needed to do to make sure she didn’t get that title.

Fearn, of East Longmeadow, Mass., won the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature Friday at Stafford with Durand, of Chicopee, Mass. finishing second.

Durand came into the night’s race holding a two-point lead over Fearn in the Limited Late Model standings.

The pair finished tied in points at the top of the standings with Durand declared the champion by virtue of his seven wins this season compared with Fearn’s three victories.

“We did really all that we could,” Fearn said. “The best we could do is win.”

Durand finished the season with 12 top-five’s and 14 top-10’s in 14 events. Fearn ended the season with 13 top-five’s and top-10 finishes in all 14 races.

Matt Clement of Wethersfield was third in Friday’s feature.
