Doug Coby Leads Practice For Whelen Mod Tour Sunoco World Series 150 At Thompson

Six-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Doug Coby is longshot to become “seven-time” on Sunday at Thompson Speedway. 

Coby sits second in then series standings, 27 points behind Justin Bonsignore, going into Sunday’s season ending Sunoco World Series 150 at Thompson. 

Bonsignore, the 2018 series champion, needs to finish 23rd or better Sunday to clinch his second title. 

Coby, the reigning series champion, led the way in practice Saturday at Thompson in preparation for Sunday’s feature. 

Coby toured the .625-mile oval with a fast lap of 117.359 mph in practice Saturday. 

Ronnie Williams was second during the session at 116.853 mph. 

Bonsignore was third fastest during practice at 116.604. 

Timmy Solomito (116.429 mph) and Craig Lutz (116.243 mph) rounded out the top-five in practice respectively.
