Caraway Speedway Hosts North-South Shootout This Weekend

Tour Type Modifieds, Super Late Models, 602 Modified Tour, 602 Super Limited Tour; Limited Late Models and Mini Stocks In Action Chasing Over $88,000.00 in Awards; Champions to be Crowned in 602 Tour Events

When Charles Kepley promoted the first North-South Shootout 18 years ago, he made clear his love for the featured division.  The “tour-type” Modifieds were then, and are still to this day, the featured division of the “shootout”.  This Saturday, November 7^th, over twenty Modifieds will take the green flag in the “John Blewett III Memorial presented in Memory of Charles Kepley” at Caraway Speedway.  With over $43,000.00 in posted awards plus a $250.00 pole award from speed51.com, will keep things interesting for the 150 lapper.

While the Modifieds are the featured class, there will be plenty of racing for the other divisions on the schedule.

The Super Late Models will run a 150 lap feature matching the distance the Modifieds will run.  And while the field may not have as many entries, the action should be no less exciting.  Super Late Model names like Justin Crider, Tyler Church former Hooters ProCup standout, Michael Ritch, T.J. Duke and Brandon Setzer, son of past Caraway Speedway favorite, Dennis Setzer are early entries.  Others are expected to swell the field by race day.  Over 22,000.00 in prize money and a Speed51.com $250.00 bonus for the fastest qualifier should keep the action hot and heavy throughout the event.

In the 602 Modified division, Rich Hunter has a 53 point lead over Cody Norman who is not competing this week.  Jody Fritts is in third spot only 53 points behind Hunter but with 100 race points and 25 possible bonus points on the line, anything can happen.  Richard Trotter, Kevin Orlando, Lee Jeffreys, Jody Utt, Spencer Martin, Tyler Bartoszwitcz and some cars from the northeast will keep things interesting.  The $750.00 to win 50 lapper also has a $100.00 bonus for the fastest qualifier and $50.00 for second quick, presented by Twin-City Trading.

Only 32 points separate youngster Riley Neal from the seasoned veteran, Billy Gregg in the 602 Super Limited division.  The 13 year old Neal has two wins to go along with 5 top finishes to top the standings.  Gregg has three wins but missed the first race of the season giving Neal the edge. 100 race points and a possible 25 bonus points could decide the title. Cody Griffin, Brian and Cory Rose along with a few last minute entries that are expected will keep Neal and Gregg on their toes in the chase for the $1,000.00 top prize.

Newly crowned Limited Late Model Champion, Coy Beard heads the list of entries for that division.  Division runner-up Mitchell Wright along with Matt Gould, Jimmy Wallace and Nicholas Graham, “Tiger” Tommy Neal, Tony Black and others are expected to chase the $2,000.00 winner’s share of the purse.  BK Auto has posted $150.00 for the “Pole Winner” and $100.00 for second fastest qualifier.

AJ Sanders and Luke Smith battled to the wire in the title chase in the Mini Stock Division and Saturday’s race should offer more of the same.  Along with Sanders and Smith, several others are expected to chase the $1,000.00 top prize that includes a $250.00 bonus for the winner from V’s Barber Shop in Winston-Salem, in the 50 lap “King of the Mini Stocks”.  Levi Holt, Austin Harris, Brandon Crotts, Allen Vance, Robert Strmiska and some “post” entries should be on hand.  Lindley Plumbing has posted $100.00 for the fastest qualifier for the event. 

Grandstands open at 10:00 AM on Saturday and racing begins at 1:30 PM.  Admission for over 500 laps of racing action with over $88,000.00 in posted prize money and special awards, is only $40.00 for Adults, Youth 7 – 14 are only $10.00 and Kids 6 and under are Free.
