(Press release from JCR Motorsports)
Just days prior to the holiday season Jimmy Rennick Jr. announced that he and his wife Angela of JCR Motorsports have come to an agreement with former two-time Riverhead Raceway NASCAR Modified champion Shawn Solomito to drive their JCR Motorsports #77 NASCAR Modified weekly in 2021 with the goal of winning races and making a title run at the historic quarter mile oval
“It all came together really quick” Jimmy Rennick revealed while making the disclosure, “a third party whom I respect and do business with and I were chatting at the Islip 300 about the JCR Motorsports #77 NASCAR Modified.
It was soon after that Shawn Solomito’s name came up and the wheels were in motion, “I actually asked Shawn at the 300 of he had his driving gear”. Rennick noted but the pair agreed to meet over Thanksgiving weekend to iron out details.
Solomito, 31 comes to the JCR Motorsports team with an impressive racing portfolio that is highlighted by the 2012 & 2016 Riverhead Raceway NASCAR Modified championships along with the New York State NASCAR Whelen All American Series title accompanying his 2012 championship.
With Solomito strapping into the JCR Motorsports #77 NASCAR Modified, it allows Rennick to solely focus on winning races and make a run for the Super Pro Truck championship in 2021.
Right now, we are fine tuning how the logistics will work out this year” Rennick stated, “the past two seasons trying to get both the Super Pro Truck & NASCAR Modified out there on the same night was no easy task for the JCR Motorsports Team
Chris Busick will serve as the JCR Motorsports Car Chief overseeing both operations during the off and race season
The #77 will be heading east shortly to Shawn’s Dad Jerry Solomito’s garage in Islip to be taken apart for evaluation, as We hurt the number seven cylinder in the Islip 300.
Jerry will be removing the engine for Jeff Castaldo’s Velocity Race Engine shop to perform a complete refresh
Jimmy furthered. In 2020 Chris Busick not only worked with Rennick’s team for both wins as well as breaking a 14yr old track record & setting a new track record in the #7 Super Pro Truck. Chris was also the key part in the JCR Motorsports #77 NASCAR Modified picking up over 5 tenths in just our second time out with it in the Islip 300.
I have been fortunate for the past 6 years to have Metropolitan Recycling, Sonny’s Collision Specialists and Mike’s Heavy-Duty Towing on board our JCR Motorsports #7 Super Pro Truck, as to which all will be returning for the 2021 Season
JCR Motorsports will now be entering a new level of racing with a full time NASCAR Modified effort” Rennick admitted. so yes…. we are actively seeking sponsors for 2021 season.
Angela & I would like to welcome Shawn, Kristy & the entire Solomito family to our JCR Motorsports Family AKA The Cannoli Crew.
No ferry or trip through NYC required. You can see all the action from Long Island on RiverheadRaceway.TV.
Good old Florida. Pandemic raging with Daytona cutting back capacity a tick but no worries as far as New Smyrna is concerned apparently. Racing in January and barely a mention of it. Hey it’s their state and track so until further notice plan on enjoying the openers from New Smyrna like always.

Not even 2021 so the field should end up being very strong. Cool beans!!
I gather Riverhead has negotiated an acceptable TV rights deal with NASCAR to allow for RiverheadRacewayTV(?). If so, I’m surprised that Stafford couldn’t do the same.
Good point. What we know is that Riverhead charges $5 more then Stafford for their regular show stream. They also have not made any statement about giving money to the race teams I can find like Stafford did. Perhaps some of that money goes to NASCAR.
