The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will set out on a 14-event schedule in 2021. With more options on the table for Tour Type Open Modified events, there’s much speculation that many teams that have run full-time with the Whelen Modified Tour will opt to run part-time with the series. In 2019 there were 16 teams that ran all 16 Whelen Modified Tour events. Last year 15 teams ran the full nine races of the abbreviated Whelen Modified Tour schedule. So today’s Daily Poll question is how many teams will run full-time on the Whelen Modified Tour in 2021? Vote below.
I think the number of full time teams will be dictated by Covid restrictions in the different states in which they compete. I think a better question would be how many races will they get in according to the published schedule, meaning original date, and track. Or will 2021 be like 2020, where they race where they can whenever they can in order to complete as many events as possible
Given the open shows and local options, other teams, such as Pasteryak, will opt to stay close to home and forgo the expensive and risky (covid-19) travel. 🧭 🧳
Expect good car counts at the Open shows and TTOMS.
Don’t be surprised if the events far from a team’s home base are a bit thin. Again, it will probably be the teams that are marginally funded.
….. and if you are “marginally funded” you should not be running a Tour car.
Atomic, if that rule was followed you would be lucky to see more than 10-12 cars at a WMT event, and that may be an overstatement. Most race teams are marginally funded; they’re doing the best they can with whatever funding they may have.
There are many marginally funded Tour teams.
Only a handful are funded with little to no restraints. The rest are marginally funded.

They will be LUCKY to have 10 teams that run the Entire Schedule. With all the Thompson, Stafford and Tri Track Open Shows you will CLEAR MORE MONEY by staying LOCAL…. The FANS really enjoy the OPEN MOD SHOWS… The BUZZ that the Last Stafford Race had was very much the same as the Early Years of the SPRING SIZZLER…. It will be GREAT if these Local shows OUTSHINE everything else… Its a Great time to have a Mod sitting in the garage , Plenty of races close to HOME without Hotel and Fuel costs taking even more of your Purse Money. RACE SMARTER / NOT HARDER……..
