Snow covers the ground today across the Northeast, where Modified racing reigns supreme.
But down in Florida the weather is perfect to get the 2021 Modified racing season kicked off.
And RaceDayCT will have all the Modified racing covered from the World Series Of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway next week.
The nine-night world series kicks off today, but action for the Tour Type Modified division doesn’t start until Monday.
The Tour Type Modifieds will run five consecutive nights at the World Series next week. The division kicks off its slate of events with a 50-lap feature Monday at New Smyrna. The division runs a 35-lap feature Tuesday followed up Wednesday by the John Blewett III Memorial 76 lap event. Another 35-lap feature next Thursday sets up for the final event on Friday Feb. 12, the 100-lap Richie Evans Memorial event.
We’ll have a special live updates page each night of the Modified action in Florida with RaceDayCT’s Denise DuPont and Jim DuPont on site for every feature.

Well, that goes to show the power of funding, sponsorships, partnerships, etc. I can’t believe Colby is getting out of the car and letting someone else drive. That is gnawing at him, eating him alive. There must be big money 💰 behind it, or the threat of losing funding. Does Colby have more than one car? Can’t he bring another along to let Pickens get some exposure? If Pickens wads the car, Colby is done for the week, or at a minimum, will have a hobbled car when he gets back in. Colby is not hoping to win a race or the championship of the week.
Putting Austin in the car in the beginning of the week is just begging to wreck the car.

Florida is the butt of jokes for a very good and well-earned reason. They are not known to be very smart. Florida is not the benchmark for all that is good. States like Tennessee, Arkansas, and Alabama are glad Florida is around to get the limelight.

🌈JD🌈, it’s the off-season, not much happening in racing to be impacted by the pandemic. Hockey is losing games quite often, the Super Bowl has drama because the idiot Chief’s players went and got haircuts at an infected barber, the NBA is near riot rage because the league is insisting on a high risk and useless all-star game, I could go on, but you won’t understand. But it could be safe for folks to make plans, schedules, etc., as long as they are not in a crowd and hopefully they are wearing a mask.
But here are the latest pandemic statistics for the USA, these are as of yesterday:
Total Cases: 27,407,324
New Cases: 126,125 (This is a one day new case tally)
Total Deaths: 470,705
New Deaths: 3,572 (This is a one day death tally)
Bring you attention to the New Cases number of 126,125. Remember a year ago when daily new cases of 25,000 was terrifying? Well, here we are. Just a couple weeks ago we were running 200,000 per day. And we have yet to see the impact of the UK, South American and South African variants that have recently arrived in the USA. It will be a few months until those variants fully blossom and start to take their tolls.
There is an investigation into the real impact of this pandemic. It is believed by the experts that the numbers may easily be 10x higher. The number reported are usually highly restricted, exclusive and confirmed. There are many, many people that get infected and are not being treated, or are asymptomatic, and these people are freely spreading the virus. The number of people that have died due to covid is far higher, but often, many of these victims have underlying conditions, such as heart disease, pulmonary conditions, inflammatory conditions, etc. that are burdens, and then a covid infection is the last straw and the person can not take all that stress and succumbs, and that death is often declared a result of the cardiac, pulmonary, etc. conditions. Consider Texas… While covid was raging, they were reporting like 5x the number of pneumonia cases and an extremely low covid rate. Texas is a covid denier.
And here’s the scary part… people that have been infected and were sick are showing that the perceived immunity after an infection is not lasting. People who were infected and sick are being tested to find out they are no longer carrying or producing antibodies. These people are getting reinfected.
The experts have been saying that we might be able to get close to starting some semblance of pre-pandemic normalcy much later this year, if all people do their part and mask up, social distance, good hygiene, and respect yourself and others. The vaccine requires this behavior.
The vaccines are promising, but how long they last is unknown, regular booster shots may be required.
It is not fashionable, cool, macho, or smart to go to work while feeling ill. 🤧
And it is verified that short exposure times of just a couple minutes of being near an infected person can be high risk. And that is indoor or outdoor.
It will be interesting to see what states in the northeast will allow in the coming months.

Forgive me for intruding here but I have talked to by friend WeldingWonders and we both agree. Whether the feedback comes here or from Facebook we are not tone deaf with regard to either positive of negative feedback.
I am logging the negative feedback from Viva Race Fan as well as the any on Facebook in the appropriate column . So far there have been almost no negative reactions to WeldingWonders series on DarealGoodfella and in fact quite the opposite. WeldingWonders seems very please with the reactions to his posts so far.
