It’s time for another “Head-To-Head” poll. So here’s the scenario, two drivers, equal equipment, nobody knows the track style. Who you taking? Today’s matchup pits Stephen Kopcik vs. Mike Christopher Jr. Kopcik is a 22-year old four-time winner in 85 SK Modified starts at Stafford Speedway, with another three career victories in the SK Light Modified division at the historic half-mile. He’s also considered one of the top young minds in car setup in Modified racing and got his first victory as a Whelen Modified Tour crew chief at 20 years old. Christopher is a 21-year old with the legendary bloodlines who has five career SK Modified wins in 109 starts at Stafford along with an SK Modified and Tour Type Modified win at Thompson Speedway.   1. Two great racers but for me Kopcik is the bomb. He just makes everything he works on and drives better. He’ll be at the front in the SK’s this year and if he’s driving the Jensen tour mod he’ll likely help that car improve as well. It did have some notable runs at New Smyrna.
    Kopcik’s sponsor and my gas supplier of choice Hocon got swallowed up by some other company I’ve been informed. Just another chess move in the industrial gas space moving inexorably to an oligopoly. Hopefully this won’t affect his sponsorship.
    Kopcik is a handling guru now appearing in various teams listings no doubt for his set up advice. The driver may have just a bit of catching up to the setup guy but in any event this is one special race car guy.
