Defending NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville will return to where it all began for him when the tour makes it’s first of three visits to Riverhead Raceway Saturday May 15th and with him bring a four race WMT win streak into the Miller Lite 200. The third week of May date is the earliest the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour has ever visited the eastern Long Island facility since it’s inception in 1985. The Miller Lite 200 will mark the 65th WMT race at the track.

Coming off a stellar 2020 championship season Bonsignore and his Ryan Stone led Ken Massa Motorsports group are very much looking forward to return to the quarter mile bullring May 15th and why not having won the last four WMT races dating back to July 7th, 2018. Justin started his driving career as a youth in the Eastern Kart Racing Association, a Sunday series of events held at Riverhead that during its existence has produced many successful drivers on both the current Whelen Modified Tour as well the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series including five time track champion Tom Rogers Jr. of Riverhead.

Win streak aside Bonsignore will focus and adding to his 29 career WMT victories in the Miller Lite 200. With 8 of those triumphs coming at Riverhead the Phoenix Communications team will be odds on favorite for the win. Justin enters the Miller Lite 200 just 3 wins behind Mike Ewanitsko (11) all time on the Riverhead Raceway WMT win list and since August of 2007 has earned 15 NASCAR Modified wins overall at his home track.

Bonsignore is not the only Long Island based driver on the WMT looking forward to the Miller Lite 200 May 15th as Eric Goodale of Riverhead another EKRA go-kart graduate stamped his mark on the 2021 season with an opening race win in the Virginia Is For Lovers 200 at Martinsville Speedway in April. Eric’s first career WMT victory unfolded at Riverhead when he scored a very popular win in front of family and friends on June 28th, 2014 beating out the late Ted Christopher in the process.

Also looking forward to finding success on their native Long Island in the Miller Lite 200 are WMT regulars Craig Lutz of Miller Place, Dave Sapienza of Riverhead, JB Fortin of Holtsville, Ken Heagy of Riverhead and Gary McDonald of Ronkonkoma. Car owners Tommy Baldwin Jr. of Bellport will bring driver Jon McKennedy of Chelmsford, Ma. to the party with Danny Watts Racing of Riverhead fielding an entry for Anthony Nocella of Woburn, Ma. while Gershow Motorsports of Medford is expected to enter Chuck Hossfeld of Ransomville, NY.

Completing the Miller Lite 200 program May 15th are the Eagle Auto Mall Crate Modifieds, INEX Legend Race Cars, Street Stocks and Mini Stocks. A complete race day agenda will be released in the days to come.
