Justin Bonsignore’s quest for a third NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championship rolls on this Saturday, June 12, when the Holtsville, New York, native stays inside his home state and visits Oswego Speedway for the Steel Palace 150.

Entering the fifth race of the Whelen Modified Tour season, Bonsignore sits second, one point back of Patrick Emerling in the championship standings. Bonsignore is also the most recent series winner — driving the No. 51 Phoenix Communications Modified into Victory Lane at Jennerstown Speedway on Memorial Day weekend for his first win of the year.

If past results are any indication, Bonsignore should have a Kenneth Massa Motorsports machine that will be able to contend for the win at the .625-mile track. In four appearances at Oswego, Bonsignore has finished third, sixth, second, and first. Bonsignore won the most recent tour stop at the track in 2019 — as the Whelen Modified Tour did not visit Oswego last year due to COVID-19.

“Definitely really excited to go back to Oswego Speedway after not racing there last year,” Bonsignore said. “I love going there… We love going there as a team. With all of the history at the track, and our victory there a few years ago… we are confident that we will be strong, and in contention. It’s a tough track. You have to hit your marks every single lap to be comfortable.”

The race begins a busy month of June for Bonsignore — which will include two NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races (Oswego and Riverhead Raceway) and one Tri Track Open Modified Series event (Seekonk Speedway).

Saturday’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race day schedule includes practice from 3-4 p.m., with Mayhew Tools pole qualifying set to go green at 6 p.m. The green flag for the Steel Palace 150 will drop at 7:30 p.m., and the race will air live on TrackPass via NBC Sports Gold. Advance grandstand tickets are available through JDVProductions.com and will also be available at the track.
