Fireworks Spectacular And Demo Derby For 71st Year Celebration At Riverhead On July 3

(Press Release from Riverhead Raceway)

There will be excitement all around iconic Riverhead Raceway Saturday July 3rd as the track marks it’s 71st Year Celebration in spectacular fashion with a huge Fireworks display and Demolition Derby joining the always exciting NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series stock cars. Even the children get in on the action with the first Kids Big Wheel Race of the season being presented.

After not being able to enjoy family entertainment events in 2020 Riverhead Raceway owners Eddie & Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz have lined up a 71st Year Celebration that fans won’t soon forget. The Kids Big Wheel Race will get things rolling as the kids get to compete on the actual race track their heroes do and will run a sprint race for the fourth turn area to the start/finish line. Later in the evening after dusk fans can sit back and watch as Riverhead Raceway celebrates not only it’s 71st Anniversary but also the Independence Day holiday with an eye catching colorful pyrotechnic presentation.

In action racing for NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series glory will be the Eagle Auto Mall Crate Modifieds as they go 25-laps on the quarter mile. The always thrilling “World Famous” Figure Eight stock cars are in action for a daring 15-laps with the ever popular INEX Legend Race Cars booked to go 20-laps in their throwback coupe and sedan bodied machines. Street Stocks return to action Saturday competing in the second race of the Miller Lite Triple Crown Series with a wild and crazy 4/6-Cylinder Gut & Go Enduro ready for a wall to wall brawl.

As the old adage goes you save the best for last and indeed that will be the case Saturday as a bone jarring, car destroying Demolition Derby will bring the curtain down on the night. In June the first Demo of 2021 saw Joey Palmeri Jr. of Lindenhurst outlast all competitors including his brother John and father Joey Sr.! All three are ready to go again July 3rd and will be joined by “The Z-Man” Ryan Zukowski of Riverhead, “Orange Crush” Pete Mikos of Ronkonkoma, “Mach Chicken” Robert Savoy of Selden, “The Misery Machine” of Jason Savoy of Lake Panamoka and “Curious” George Astacio of Shirley.

Qualifying is set for 6:00 pm with opening ceremonies and feature events to follow. Admission is $30 for adults, kids 6-12 $10 with 5 & under free. Tickets are sold at the track on race day. For those out of town or who are unable to attend watch the live stream of all the racing on Riverheadraceway.Tv PPV starting at 5:45 pm.
