A tough qualifying effort didn’t slow Justin Bonsignore and the Kenneth Massa Motorsports team down on Saturday night, June 12, at Oswego Speedway. Bonsignore charged through the field into the top-five and left the Steel Palace 150 with a solid fourth-place finish behind the wheel of the Phoenix Communications No. 51.

The only caution of the race flew just before halfway and the team went to work once again and gained Bonsignore crucial spots on pit road to get him closer to the front en route to a solid finish.

“We just missed it a little bit in qualifying being a little bit too tight, but late in the first run of the race, we had a really good car and the caution came out and the pit crew did their job again and got us a bunch of spots,” Bonsignore said. “We were a little bit too tight at the end of the race and it’s a really tough place to pass, but overall, it was a really good day considering we didn’t have the best car and we were able to come away with a top-five finish.”

Following the fifth race of the season, five different drivers have been to Victory Lane in tour competition. Bonsignore will look to become the first two-time winner of the season next time on the track, and will also look to gain points on leader Patrick Emerling. Bonsignore sits just three points back of the lead in his quest for his third Whelen Modfiied Tour championship.

Bonsignore will return to the track for round six of the Whelen Modified Tour season next Saturday, June 19, at his home track, Riverhead Raceway. For more information on Justin Bonsignore, visit JustinBonsignore.com and follow his athlete page on Facebook.

  1. All he has to do is stay safe and the championship is his.

Emerling will take himself out a couple times. As will the others.
