Two-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Justin Bonsignore leads the championship point standings once again as the series heads for Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.

Set to compete in the Rumble at the Ridge 200 on Saturday, August 21, Bonsignore and more than 20 of his closest challengers will head to the state of Maine to race at Beech Ridge for the first time since 2005.

The race marks the ninth of the 14-race schedule for NASCAR’s oldest touring series, and Beech Ridge, a flat oval located just south of Portland, Maine, will host another event promoted by JDV Productions. This will be the third and final race of the 2021 season promoted by JDV Productions, led by Josh Vanada. Bonsignore, who has never taken laps around the track, will hope to become a quick study in order to contend for another victory.

“I don’t put a lot of crazy effort or research into new tracks, I’ll try and watch some YouTube videos of onboard or old footage just to get a quick idea,” Bonsignore said. “It’s more or less just going out there and feeling it out. I watched one video for the Whelen Modified Tour race at Lancaster Speedway a few weeks ago, and I walked the track for the first time since probably my go-kart days. I adapt well to the new race tracks. Our cars are always good off the truck. I seem to have the instinct of being in the right places at the right time.”

In his last 50 Whelen Modified Tour starts, Bonsignore has 18 victories, 38 top-five finishes and 44 finishes inside the top-10. It’s clear that since Ryan Stone left NASCAR Xfinity Series team JR Motorsports and took the job leading the Bonsignore train with Kenneth Massa Motorsports, the Holtsville, New York, driver has been nearly unbeatable. Even if he is not winning, he’s contending for the podium positions at the end of the race.

As Bonsignore says, Stone is one of the best in the business, and he can trust the car will be where it needs to be when he shows up to the track and buckles his belts behind the wheel.

“It expedites the learning curve a lot when the cars are great right off the trailer,” Bonsignore said. “Ryan has a great baseline for all of these race tracks, and he might have been to some of them in the past with another driver. With all of his experience, and how thorough and well-rounded he is in preparing the cars and the team, it makes everything so much easier for me. I can just jump in the car and go. I’ll never have any more confidence in someone than I do in Ryan Stone. He’s patient with me, always makes the right adjustments and we have a great relationship. He’s one of the best out there and it’s awesome to have him in our corner.”

Like many Whelen Modified Tour drivers, Bonsignore is excited to take laps at Beech Ridge, but also excited to showcase the series to a new audience of fans. As the only NASCAR sanctioned track in Maine that will have the Whelen Modified Tour this year, the grandstands should be full for the 200-lap contest.

“It’s huge,” Bonsignore said. “To get into these different markets, the fans in the area will normally have to travel to watch us race, whether down into New Hampshire, or somewhere else. For them to have a race in their backyard, it will be packed, and people will be excited. It’s huge for us to get down into newer markets and get new eyes on the Whelen Modified Tour. I like going to new facilities to race — it makes you more well-rounded as a driver and I enjoy trying to conquer the new tracks.”

As part of a full night of racing, some of Beech Ridge’s local divisions will also hit the track on Saturday, August 21. The green flag for the Rumble at the Ridge 200 is expected to drop at 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $40 per person and are available in advance at JDVProductions.com. Tickets and pit passes will also be available at the track. Additional information will be released the week of the race.
