Ryan Preece Wins Pole In Whelen Modified Tour Qualifying Friday At Stafford Speedway

NASCAR Cup Series regular Ryan Preece will lead the field to green for the Whelen Modified Tour GAF Roofing 150 Friday at Stafford Speedway.

Preece, of Berlin, toured the half-mile oval with a fast lap of 18.545 seconds.

Two-time series champion Justin Bonsignore, who led the way in practice, will start second after a qualifying lap of 18.560 seconds. Bonsignore, of Holtsville, N.Y., is making his 40th Whelen Modified Tour start at Stafford Friday and looking for his first series victory at the track.

Jon McKennedy of Chelmsford, Mass. and Eric Goodale of Riverhead, N.Y tied for third fastest in qualifying with a matching lap of 18.601 seconds.

Six-time series champion Doug Coby of Milford was fifth fastest at 18.614 seconds.

Kyle Bonsignore, Ronnie Williams, Matt Swanson, Ron Silk and Craig Lutz rounded out the top-10 in qualifying respectively.

Patrick Emerling, the winner of the NAPA Spring Sizzler 150 in April at Stafford and the winner of the most recent series event last week at Lancaster (N.Y) Speedway, was 11th fastest in qualifying.
