In June 2019 Burt Myers jumped in a Dave Sapienza owned ride for a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event at Thompson Speedway and scored the second best finish of his career with the series.

In less than two weeks the pairing will come together once again with Myers looking to better that fourth place finish he had for Sapienza in 2019 at Thompson Speedway.

Myers will pilot a second Dave Sapienza Racing entry in the Whelen Modified Tour Virginia Is For Racing Lovers 150 on Sept. 10 at Richmond (Va.) Raceway.

Myers, of Walnut Cove, N.C, will drive the No. 63 LFR/TFR entry with Sapienza driving the team’s usual No. 36 ride.

“I can’t thank Dave enough for this opportunity,” Myers told RaceDayCT. “Thanks to him, his team and my sponsors for making this possible.”

The event marks the first appearance at Richmond for the Whelen Modified Tour since Todd Szegedy won there in 2002.

Myers has made 23 Whelen Modified Tour appearances since 1999 with five career top-five finishes. His most previous series start was in the 2019 Musket 250 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

“He’s a good friend and we work well together,” Sapienza said of Myers. “Plus he put me in his car for a race at Bowman Gray [Stadium].”
